Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

We collect only the information you enter on the website:

• Direct orders: your name, email address, mobile number, delivery address, the book and quantity, and any order notes.
• Messages and reader responses: your name, email address (optional for reader responses), location if you give it, and your message.
• Mailing list: your email address.

Our hosting provider also keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, needed to deliver and secure the website.

2. How orders are stored

When you submit the order form, your details are saved securely in our website’s database so that we can take payment, dispatch the book, send order updates and answer questions about your order. The order is recorded even if payment is not completed, so that we can help if something went wrong.

3. Payments

Payments are processed by Razorpay. Your card, UPI or bank details are entered in Razorpay’s secure checkout and are never sent to or stored on this website. To link a payment to your order, we share your order number, name, email, phone number and delivery details with Razorpay, and we receive back a payment reference and the payment method used. Razorpay handles payment data under its own privacy policy.

4. Why we use information

We use your information to process and deliver orders, send order confirmations and shipping updates, reply to messages, send occasional letters to those who have joined the mailing list, and operate and secure the website. We do not use your information for advertising.

5. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed: with Razorpay to process payments, with courier or postal services to deliver your parcel (name, address and phone number), with our hosting and email providers to run the website and send emails, and where disclosure is required by law. When you type a PIN code on the order form, only that six-digit code is sent from your browser to India Post’s public PIN code lookup service so that your city and state can be filled in automatically; no other details are sent. We do not sell or rent personal data.

6. Mailing list

If you join the mailing list, we send a few letters a year about new books, Notebook entries and publication updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any letter or writing to us, and we will remove your address.

7. Retention and your rights

Order records are kept for as long as needed to fulfil the order, handle returns or refunds, and meet accounting and legal record-keeping requirements. Messages are kept for as long as the correspondence is useful. You may write to ask what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to request its deletion, subject to legal obligations.

8. Security

The website uses HTTPS, so information sent to it is encrypted in transit. Access to orders and messages is restricted to the imprint’s password-protected administration area. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us.

9. Cookies and third parties

The website uses only essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps forms secure and working. It does not use advertising or behavioural tracking scripts. Google Fonts may receive basic technical information when your browser loads the site’s typefaces, and Razorpay’s checkout sets its own cookies on the payment step. External booksellers such as Amazon have their own privacy practices.

10. Children

The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly seek personal data from anyone under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the website develops; the date at the top shows the latest version. Privacy questions may be sent to onerealityeditions@gmail.com.
